How to Install a Hinge Pin Door Stopper — Installation Guide

What you need

Just your hands for most doors — a flathead screwdriver and hammer help if a hinge pin is snug. No drilling, no screws, no adhesive.

Step 1 — Remove the hinge pin

Choose the hinge position recommended for your door (typically the top or middle hinge) and remove its pin. If the pin is snug, tap it up gently from below with a screwdriver and hammer.

Step 2 — Place the Hinge Stop

Seat the stopper over the hinge so the bumper arm faces the direction the door opens, then reinstall the pin securely through the stopper and hinge.

Step 3 — Set the opening distance

Open the door slowly and adjust the bumper so the door stops before the handle reaches the wall. Test with a firm push and re-adjust until you're happy with the opening.

Installation tips

• Start with the door that takes the most abuse — you'll have the technique down in one install.
• For doors near a wall corner, set a shorter opening distance so the knob clears the corner entirely.

Troubleshooting

Door doesn't stop where expected: re-check that the bumper arm faces the opening direction and re-set the adjustment.
Pin won't seat fully: confirm the stopper is centered over the hinge barrel before reinserting the pin.
