Hinge Stop FAQ — Hinge Pin Door Stopper Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before ordering your hinge pin door stoppers.

What is a hinge pin door stopper?

A hinge pin door stopper is a small adjustable door stop that mounts on your door's existing hinge pin instead of the floor or wall. When the door opens, the rubber-tipped bumper stops it at a set distance — before the doorknob can reach the drywall. It installs without drilling, screws, or adhesive on most residential doors.

Will it fit every residential door hinge?

Hinge Stop is designed for standard residential door hinges. Final fit depends on the confirmed product dimensions and hinge pin size — a complete compatibility guide will be published on this page before launch, and every order includes a printed fit guide. If a stopper doesn't fit one of your doors, our fit guarantee has you covered (see Returns).

How do you install a hinge pin door stopper?

Three steps, a few minutes per door: (1) Remove the hinge pin from the recommended hinge. (2) Seat the Hinge Stop over the hinge and reinstall the pin. (3) Adjust the bumper so the door stops before the handle reaches the wall. See our full Installation Guide for step-by-step details.

Can the stopping distance be adjusted?

Yes. The adjustable bumper lets you set how far each door opens, so you can fine-tune every door individually — a wider opening for a bedroom, a shorter stop for a door near a wall corner.

Will the bumper mark my walls, door, or trim?

The stopper uses a soft rubber tip designed to cushion the door without marking painted surfaces or trim. Bumper material quality is one of the specifications we verify with our supplier before shipping any product.

What finishes are available?

Planned finishes include satin nickel, black, white, and bronze/chrome so the stopper blends in with your existing hinges. Only supplier-confirmed finishes will appear as options on the product page.

What comes in each bundle?

The Starter Bundle is a 3-pack ($19.99 · $6.66 per door) for your first high-traffic doors. The Home Bundle is an 8-pack ($39.99 · $5.00 per door) — our most popular option, enough for every bedroom and bathroom in a typical home. The Whole-Home Bundle is a 14-pack ($59.99 · $4.29 per door) — the best per-door value, protecting every door in the house with spares left over.

Which bundle should I choose?

Count the doors that actually get opened hard — kids' bedrooms, bathrooms, the door that always slams in a draft. One to three problem doors: Starter (3-pack). Most-used rooms across the house: Home (8-pack). Protecting a whole house — or you're a landlord or property manager: the Whole-Home 14-pack is the best per-door value.
